Government is moving forward with mirror legislation to the Government of Canada’s Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation Act, or Bill C-49, in order to allow for future offshore wind development. Industry Minister Andrew Parsons says these amendments will ensure necessary measures are in place for renewable offshore energy opportunities. It will allow for a fiscal regime that provides the maximum economic returns. The offshore area for offshore renewable energy will be defined to exclude areas within provincial jurisdiction.
