Back to school is getting closer and while most people are feeling the pinch with paying more for gas and groceries, for some families it’s a stressful time. Mike Kearley is the Executive Director of Vine Place and on Bayfm this morning, he said so far, 176 have registered for a backpack.
In April, Becket Western NL, opened their doors at Vine Place helping young people aged 15-29 access services. Kearley says this year, some university students can also get a backpack. He says some school supplies are in demand like duotangs, pencil leds, pens, pencils, crayons, coiled exercise books, rulers, and bookbags. Kearley says they also help families in the Bay of Islands, Pasadena, Deer Lake and Stephenville.
