New for classrooms this year is the book called, “Hay! Have you herd?”
School students across the country are learning about and celebrating Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month and in this province, those in Kindergarten to grade 6 have a chance to win a beehive to decorate. It’s part of the “Bee Creative Literacy Contest” and classes can submit up to three of their top literary works on agriculture in NL. Chelsea Foley is with the NL Federation of Agriculture. She says they’ve been doing this popular contest for a number of years now in partnership with the NL Beekeeping Association. All entries must be submitted by April 3rd with the winners announced on April 7th.
Meanwhile, new for classrooms this year is their book called, “Hay! Have you herd?” Foley says it's a story that focuses on animal health and livestock. For more information go to aitcnl.ca.
