The City of Corner Brook has awarded JCL Investments Inc a contract worth over 1.03 M for the Elizabeth Street Intersection Improvements.

The City of Corner Brook has awarded JCL Investments Inc a contract worth over 1.03 M for the Elizabeth Street Intersection Improvements. At last night’s public meeting council approved the bid. Councillor Vaughn Granter says there was only one submission. The city’s Director of Engineering, Donald Burden explains what the project will include like new traffic signals and an extra turning lane to make traffic there more efficient.

On Bayfm this morning, mayor Jim Parsons says that’s a very dangerous intersection and it was identified as one of the areas which could become a roundabout. He says there isn’t enough real estate in the area for the type of roundabout discussed. One of the reasons for the early awarding of the tender is so the project can be completed this year.
