Government has given an update on child care spaces. Education Minister Krista Lynn Howell says “new initiativebuild-on the more than 9,100 early learning and child care spaces operating at $10 a day or less in the province, with over 1,500 child care spaces created since January of last year.”  She says after reviewing the operating grant program, they’re looking at ways to take the feedback received and incorporate it into childcare spaces throughout the province. Howell says the highest demand is for infant spaces so they’re giving an extra $30 a day to childcare providers. There are currently 2,206 early learning and child care spaces in various stages of development throughout the province, with timelines for operation ranging from one to 24 months.
