Government increases festival funding by $43K and several west coast groups will get part of it

    The list of recipients this year includes the Jigs and Wheels festival in Corner Brook, Light up the Bay at the Bay of Islands Yacht Club,  the Deer Lake Strawberry Festival, Cormack Days 2026, and Qalipu First Nation Revitalizing Mi’kmaq Culture and Traditions.

    Government has increased the funding for festivals and celebrations this year by $43K. A total of $110K will be shared among 100 community-based initiatives that celebrate culture. The list of recipients this year includes the Jigs and Wheels festival in Corner Brook, Light up the Bay at the Bay of Islands Yacht Club,  the Deer Lake Strawberry Festival, Cormack Days 2026, and Qalipu First Nation Revitalizing Mi’kmaq Culture and Traditions. Those eligible for funding include not-for-profit groups, municipalities, and Indigenous organizations.
