Town Manager Jason Young says they replaced the aging water filtration system but when the power goes out, it stops putting chlorine in.
The town of Deer Lake has issued a statement to residents in light of concern and frustration over a boil water advisory. Town Manager Jason Young says they replaced the aging water filtration system but when the power goes out, it stops putting chlorine in. Whenever there is a disruption with the disinfection process, provincial regulations require that a boil water advisory is issued until water samples are acceptable. Young says council and staff met yesterday to talk about next steps. He says a technician is due to arrive early next week to find out why this is happening. On Tuesday, they’ll be meeting to discuss buying a back up generator, which is not a long-term solution.
