Leading up to Christmas Day they were in the dark for about three days.
Residents in Gallants have been dealing with power issues for the past number of years. Leading up to Christmas Day they were in the dark for about three days. Mike Hickey is from Gallants but came home 6 years ago after living in Calgary. He says since 2013, the service has been off and on, but it wasn’t like that all the time. Hickey says he spoke with Newfoundland Power workers last week and they said they can’t do much about it. Hickey has a wood stove and propane fireplace, but this has to be fixed and managers don’t seem to care. He lives in an area with upwards of 140 cabins and Gallants has been a registered community since 1967.
