Fisheries Minister Elvis Loveless says he is hopeful the recommendations will help lead to an efficient price setting framework for the seafood sector that includes a timely start for our various fisheries.
Government has released the final report prepared by the Fish Price-Setting Strategic Review Team. The report includes nine recommendations, which are under review by government and includes the development of formula-based pricing that should be undertaken months prior to the seasonal start of fisheries. The team was created in September to assist with the development of a formula-based framework for fish price-setting, and other potential mechanisms, to address ongoing issues with the current price-setting process. Fisheries Minister Elvis Loveless says he is hopeful the recommendations will help lead to an efficient price setting framework for the seafood sector that includes a timely start for our various fisheries.
