Some parents in the Dunfield Park area of Corner Brook are too afraid to let their children play outside because of the amount of used needles and drug paraphernalia. One parent called in to Bayfm news but wanted to remain anonymous to protect her children. She has seen crack pipes, needle caps, needles and more, but during the past couple of weeks, they actually found a drug den with a burned spoon,, baggies, beer cans and multiple needles everywhere. The parent called the RNC who put her through to the city to handle the cleanup but no one from the city ever returned her call. Needles and drug paraphernalia are being discarded in other parts of the city like the Farmdale area. She has spoken with her children about the dangers and to never touch needles. Meanwhile, the RNC’s Cst James Cadigan says it is up to the city or municipality to handle the clean up and assess what is needed. He says police are there to offer support and assistance if needed. The city has placed a needle disposal bin near the Vine Place Community Centre. They can also be found at other locations in the city like Broadway and West Street.
