Federal Conservative leader talks about soaring housing prices and lower building permits across the country

    According to Ratehub, housing prices in St. John’s soared $13,900 in one month and the income required to buy in the capital city went up by $2,800.

    According to Stats Canada, the number of building permits was down 8 percent across the country in April and since 2015, inflation has increased by 33 percent. According to Ratehub, housing prices in St. John’s soared $13,900 in one month and the income required to buy in the capital city went up by $2,800. Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says people of all ages can’t afford a place to live and says Canadians are asking, “How do I pay my bills?”           RateHub also found that “Affordability conditions worsened in all Canadian housing markets in May.”
