Police also located an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

A 66-year-old man is without a vehicle and licence after he was stopped by RCMP Traffic Services West on Saturday in Deer Lake. Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says shortly after 4:30 p.m. police noticed a vehicle with an obstructed licence plate, which was known to be registered to a suspended driver, on Wight’s Road. At a traffic stop, the driver was unable to provide proof of registration or insurance. He appeared to be impaired and admitted to being under the influence of prescription drugs.

Police also located an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital, where blood samples were collected. Police are waiting for the results to determine if charges of impaired operation will be laid.
