    Earlier Story:

The city of Corner Brook is working towards the development of a Traffic Calming Policy. Acting City Manager Darren Charters gave a presentation about it at last week’s public meeting. He says traffic calming is a means to reduce traffic in a certain area by using physical measures to improve safety. Charters says this policy will provide the city with a standard process to manage public requests for traffic calming. He says a big part of this will be public input and a survey will be sent out to residents. The policy outlines the process for the initiation, assessment, development and implementation of traffic calming plans on city streets. Charters says a final draft on the policy is done and is based on prudent strategies in other cities.
