The 2023 cruise season at the Port of Corner Brook was a record-breaking year with 16 vessels making 28 calls between June 30th and November 3rd. They ranged in size from nimble expedition ships and world-class luxury ships to classic, well-loved cruise ships. Some 40,948 passengers and 20,246 well-traveled crew members made memories here in the city. These numbers represent a dramatic increase of 58% and 36%, respectively, from the 2022 season which included six inaugural calls, three double ship days, and commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Holland America Line with visitors of the Zaandam. This season also marked a significant milestone as the port celebrated the arrival of its 300,000th passenger since the commencement of cruising in Corner Brook in 1976. In fact, the Port set a provincial record for the highest number of cruise passengers in a single season. The economic benefits generated by the cruise industry extends across a number of diverse sectors. The total economic impact for the region this year is $14.1 million.
