Some Corner Brook council members recently met with the Regional Health Council, who are currently travelling throughout the province to talk about the state of healthcare. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit yesterday, Mayor Linda Chaisson said it was an interesting meeting, chaired by our very own, much admired, Dr.Francine Lemire and Councillors Dean and Luther also attended.
Chaisson says the meeting on Monday this week opened with a question for all, “What did you hear when campaigning during the election?” She says they spoke about the city and the Bay of Islands, mainly about the lack of doctors and nurses here. She says they are taking suggestions on improving health. Chaisson says hearing about long waits at the outpatient and emergency departments here, this new council has the aim of keeping doctors here as well as all student nurses.
The Regional Health Council is divided into 5 health zones and Zone 4 is the Western Health Council.
