Residents will now have the option to request an additional bin if they believe one is necessary.

As the city of Corner Brook gears up to roll out the new automated garbage collection in some areas on Monday, residents have a chance to say what they would like included in the regulations. At Tuesday’s public meeting, council introduced a notice of motion to amend the existing Garbage and Recycling By-laws, which will be voted on during the next public council meeting. Councillor Sherry Dean talked about two proposed changes:

    (1) Additional Bin Requests: Residents will now have the option to request an additional bin if they believe one is necessary. Requests will be evaluated based on specific criteria established in the updated regulations.

    2) Non-Profit Facilities: Non-profit facilities may be eligible to opt into City garbage collection services. The revised regulations detail the opt-in process and outline the criteria used to determine eligibility.

The public will have an opportunity to provide input on the proposed regulations and repeal up until Monday, January 19th.
