A fibre optic cable break north of Deer Lake affected communications across Western Newfoundland and the Northern Peninsula Friday, according to Bell Aliant. The company stated late Friday evening that communications had been restored in areas affected by the outage, which started in the early hours of Friday. Adverse weather was cited as the cause of the fibre break.
