Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue completes two searches in less than a week

    Last Tuesday night, BOISAR was deployed by the RNC to locate and extract three people stranded in a vehicle stuck in deep snow approximately 7km down a forest access road near the town of Mount Moriah.

    An early morning search yesterday by the Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue team was actually the group’s second rescue in less than a week. Two men were rescued 2 o’clock Monday morning after getting their atv stuck in a remote area in back of Lundrigan Drive. Last Tuesday night, BOISAR was deployed by the RNC to locate and extract three people stranded in a vehicle stuck in deep snow approximately 7km down a forest access road near the town of Mount Moriah. Spokesperson Shawn Street says once a search is over, they still have work to do with getting everything ready for the next search. Street says members responded to both calls using an Argo and 4X4 SAR Pick-up.
