Cara Pye is the secretary for the Host Committee and joined Bayfm’s Lenny Benoit to talk about a volunteer recruitment drive at the end of this month.

Excitement is building for the next Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games, taking place in Corner Brook this summer. About 1600 athletes and coaches will be here from August 8th-15th. Cara Pye is the secretary for the Host Committee and joined Bayfm’s Lenny Benoit to talk about a volunteer recruitment drive at the end of this month. She says the games will be a big event with ten sports and athletes coming from nine regions in NL.

Meanwhile, Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate those people who do so much for our communities and it takes place April 19th-25th. Pye says they’re looking for about 500 volunteers to make the games memorable and have set a day for a recruitment drive. April 30th marks 100 days until the games begin. Pye says an event of this magnitude needs volunteers.  For more information go to nlgames.ca
