Health Minister Tom Osborne says “A review of the Personal Health Information Act helps us modernize the legislation and ensure that it continues to serve its purpose efficiently.
A second statutory review of the Personal Health Information Act is complete. INQ Consulting assessed the act and made recommendations for a number of areas. These include privacy protections, access to health data, as well as data and innovation. Other recommendations were made in monitoring and oversight, consent, as well as literacy and social license. The committee’s report is available at www.phiareviewnl.ca. The recommendations outlined in the report are currently being reviewed by the health department.
