Our Lady of Mercy Heritage Church has been selected to compete for $50,000 in Restoration funds from the National Trust competition the Next Great Save.

A church in Port au Port West is one step closer to getting money for restorations but they need your vote. Our Lady of Mercy Heritage Church has been selected to compete for $50,000 in Restoration funds from the National Trust competition the Next Great Save. Spokesperson Joanne Rose says 12 sites across Canada are in the running. She says the church was designated as a heritage site in 1997 and they entered a contest a few weeks ago. They were selected as one of the 12 sites, the only site in NL. Rose says they are in second place and need about a thousand votes to win. To vote go to: nationaltrustcanada.ca.
