Coordinator Shawn Street says they gathered equipment, and travelled toward the Logger School Forest Access Road with SAR trucks, snowmobiles, and a command centre trailer.
A good ending to a search for a missing person who was at a cabin about 20 kms west of Corner Brook. At about 3:30 this morning, Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue was deployed by the RNC after a man became separated from their group. Coordinator Shawn Street says members jumped out of bed and headed out to help. BOISAR gathered equipment, and travelled toward the Logger School Forest Access Road with SAR trucks, snowmobiles, and a command centre trailer.
Thankfully, given worsening near-blizzard conditions, the man was located by a member of the public. Street says BOISAR returned to headquarters, reset equipment, and stood down at 5:30 a..m.
Street will be celebrating 30 years with search and rescue this May. Thank you for all you do!
