Shortly after 9:40 a.m. on Saturday, police got a report that a man was threatening others with a firearm.
A 74-year old man is facing charges after pointing a firearm in Deer Lake on Saturday (January 24th). RCMP Cpl Jesse O’Donaghey says police also seized a pellet gun after a search at a home on First Avenue. Shortly after 9:40 a.m. police got a report that a man was threatening others with a firearm. Once officers arrived, they made contact with the man who was ordered from his home. He cooperated and was taken into police custody without incident.
O’Donaghey says less powerful pellet or BB guns are not deemed to be firearms for licencing and registration purposes under the Firearms Act. However, they are considered to be firearms under the Criminal Code if they are used in a criminal or negligent manner. The man is due to appear in court March 24th.
