Humber-Gros Morne MHA Mike Goosney has taken to social media to share what he says are truths and facts on a dispute over the opening of the new clinic between the municipality and provincial government. On Bayfm last week, Deer Lake Mayor Dean Ball the hang up is because of access points to get there and Humberview Drive has been approved by the province but they won’t allow the entrance from the TCH and Bennett Avenue to exist. It’s also in a construction zone where a subdivision is being built.
In his video, Goosney wanted to make it clear that this isn’t about politics and he’s disappointed that the Mayor chose to make it political. Goosney said this was never approved by council and a permit was never issued to connect the road to the highway. He says there have been many discussions and a number of resolutions have been offered but none were accepted.
Furthermore, Goosney explained that it won’t happen because of Transportation Association of Canada regulations.
The keys to the new $50M Community Health Centre were handed over to the province on August 12th.
