Deer Lake Mayor Dean Ball says construction is complete on the new $50M Community Health Centre, the province was handed over the keys to it on August 12th but an opening date has yet to be announced. He says the hang up is because of access points to get there and Humberview Drive has been approved by the province but they won’t allow the entrance from the TCH and Bennett Avenue to exist. It’s also a construction zone since the subdivision there is not completed yet.
A little over two years ago, the former Premier and MHA Andrew Furey announced the 30,000 square foot facility that would bring healthcare and social services together under one roof. It’s located at 15 Premier Drive and Ball says the access points were already approved in the beginning.
Ball says this facility needs to open now and in a few days it will be a year for discussions on access points.
