CUPE 4386 workers at the Corner Brook Civic Centre have been locked out for a week now after ongoing negotiations failed to reach a deal. Last night, Mayor Linda Chaisson read a statement before the regular public meeting started. She said council has heard concerns expressed by user groups, parents, participants and the community. They understand how important the centre is to the city. Chaisson said they’re hopeful both sides can return to bargaining soon to find a resolution.
