The House of Assembly Management Commission will meet this morning and the only thing on the agenda is a final report about giving MHA’s a $22K raise. Last week, highlights of the report were made public and tomorrow, the 40 MHA’s will be briefed about it. Since 2009, their annual salary has stayed the same at just over $95K. NL is second to Prince Edward island where their elected officials are paid just shy of $87K a year and the highest was Ontario, with an annual salary of over $163K. Other recommendations in the 160 page report include more pay for House of Assembly positions like Speaker, Opposition Leader and more. Today’s meeting will also be live at 11 a.m. on the House of Assembly’s website and social media channels.
