Since starting in this province in 2013, the Recycle My Electronics program has kept 10,000 metric tonnes out of landfills. Michelle Marley is the provincial program director, and the initiative is through the Electronic Products Recycling Association. Marley says it’s free to drop off at any of their locations.
Marley spoke about high volumes of waste from businesses, which led to the launch of “Book my Pickup.” The list of acceptable items has expanded and Marley highlighted this includes small kitchen appliances, hand held tools, Children’s toys and more. In Canada Recycle My Electronics programs have diverted over 1.4 million tonnes from landfills. For a full list of accepted items go to recyclemyelectronics.ca
