Applications for funding under the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund or CHIF are being accepted until October 16th and at this week’s public meeting Corner Brook city council decided on what to submit. Councillor Steve Perchard highlighted the four projects: Wastewater Treatment Plan – $160,000,000 Reid Street/Fern Street Reconstruction – $4,300,000 Bayview Heights Reconstruction – $2,850,000 Humber Park/ Pine Street Reconstruction – $2,700,000. Assistant Director of Engineering, Aaron O’Brien spoke about last year’s application for funding towards the water treatment plant and did not get a response and the general notion is that it was not successful. O’Brien says the CHIF program is relatively new and the city has sent two applications to date.
