A new liner service was launched yesterday from the Port of Corner Brook to Canada’s north. The Nunavut Eastern Arctic Shipping’s Service (NEAS) went into gear with the arrival of the ice-class vessel UKPIK. Terminal operator LOGISTEC loaded it with a fleet of Arctic-grade “Silver Dolphin” aluminum boats made in this province and headed to Arctic communities. Holly McDonald, is the Manager of Marketing & Business Development at the port. She says this is an important step in expanding the port’s role in strengthening connections between this province and Canada’s North attract more activity through the port while helping businesses in NL access Northern markets
McDonald says the port of Corner Brook has a number of advantages with year-round access, they have the capacity, are well located for Northern routes and their terminal operator LOGISTEC brings a lot of experience to the table.
