UPDATE #2 (September 11, 3:00): The Trans-Canada Highway near St. Jude’s is now closed to traffic in both directions, as the investigation into an earlier motor vehicle collision continues.
Any new updates on the highway closure will be shared as soon as new information becomes available on our social media platforms, including Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter).
Please do not call RCMP detachments, police non-emergency lines or 911 seeking updates on the highway closure. These calls tie up phone lines and emergency resources that are needed to respond to active incidents and calls for police service.
We appreciate the public’s patience, understanding and cooperation as crews work diligently to reopen the highway safely.
UPDATE (September 11, 1:40 p.m.): One lane of the Trans-Canada Highway near St. Judes has temporarily reopened to alternating traffic. Please follow all directions from first responders and drive with an abundance of caution.
Police expect that additional full closures will be necessary, and delays will continue in the area.
