A rebate that was announced as part of last month’s Churchill Falls agreement with Quebec won’t happen unless a deal is done. Finance Minister Craig Pardy spoke to the media this week about the promised 15 per cent electricity rebate. It’s expected to save households an average of $351 per year and Pardy says the rebate is a provincial initiative, contingent on a deal.
However, Pardy says with the increases in revenue from oil, residents are expecting some sort of relief this fall. He expects oil revenues will bring in over $500M and an analysis is underway to determine how people in this province can be best served with a fall announcement.
