RCMP took a vehicle from an out of province driver on Tuesday after catching him doing more than double the speed limit. At around 8:45 that morning, RCMP Traffic Services West noticed a vehicle going through a construction zone on the Trans Canada Highway just east of Route 460. A radar clocked the driver travelling at 103 km/h where the posted speed limit was 50 km/h.
The 52-year-old New Brunswick man was ticketed for excessive speeding, his licence was suspended, and the vehicle was seized. Police say speeding in a construction zone increases the risk of collisions and serious injuries by reducing reaction time and needing more distance to stop.
