The Western NL Food Hub is gearing up for another season in Corner Brook. Spokesperson Richard Butt says it’s a social enterprise by FoodFirst NL and basically an online store where people can get fresh, local produce. “Consumers can place an order between Friday and Monday. Once that order comes in, a pick list goes out to all the farmers on a Tuesday,” he says. “We pick it up on Wednesday and bring it to the Food Hub in Corner Brook.” Butt says it’s a way to support local farms without making the trip there. “If the farm is in Cormack and you live in the Bay of Islands area making the weekly trip would be a struggle,” he says. The Western NL Food Hub will be located 17 Herald Avenue.
