This week, Premier Andrew Furey announced a $250 million dollar investment in roads and some of the projects are on the west coast. This investment is part of the $1.4 billion in improvements to provincial roads and highways announced last year. All west coast projects are in locations along the Trans Canada Highway. The Deer Lake Tailrace bridge next to the power house will be replaced and a traffic study will be done on the town, The Bin Wall and the Massey Drive on ramp will also be replaced. There will be some rehab work done on the TCH from PinchGut to Route 480, as well as the Crabb’s River bridge. Improvements will be made to the Wight’s Road Interchange. The Port Aux Basques Ferry Terminal Overpass will be replaced and passing lanes will be constructed near the community.
