Pair were arrested following traffic stop
Police have charged two people after finding cocaine, pills, contraband tobacco, cash, and other evidence. It’s part of an ongoing investigation by the RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West. RCMP Corporal Jolene Garland says the charges are a result of searching 2 homes and conducting a traffic stop in Corner Brook. She says 21-year-old Keira Furey and 41-year-old Owen Barnes, have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Furey was released from police custody and is set to appear in court at a later date. Corporal Garland says Barnes, who has a history of arrests and multiple drug charges, was again arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as breaching conditions of a release order. The investigation is continuing.
