Three men are dead after a fishing boat sank in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, three in hospital in Corner Brook

    Quebec police Sgt Hughes Beaulieu says the boat was overcome by water in high waves.

    Three men are  dead and three others were taken to Western Memorial Regional Hospital after a boat went down yesterday near Quebec’s Lower North Shore. Quebec police Sgt Huges Beaulieu says it was a fishing vessel  from Blanc Sablon with five men and one woman onboard. Beaulieu says the boat was overcome by water in high waves. He says the ship went down 25 kilometres off shore in the Gulf of St. Lawrence around midnight on Sunday. Beaulieu says the Canadian Coast Guard and an Armed Forces Helicopter completed the rescue around 7:30 yesterday morning. An investigation by the Transportation Safety Board and Quebec’s workplace safety agency.
