Boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a choice that poses an unnecessary and unacceptable risk to you, your passengers and others sharing our waters.
The water is still chilly here but the RCMP says it’s never too early to get ready for a safe boating season. This is Safe Boating Awareness Week. RCMP say no matter what size vessel you’re in, a life jacket or personal floatation device can save your life. It’s also the law! Anyone found without an available, appropriate, personal flotation device (PFD) or life jacket may be ticketed. As well, impaired operation is the same offence whether you’re driving a boat or a car – and it has the same consequences. Boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a choice that poses an unnecessary and unacceptable risk to you, your passengers and others sharing our waters.
