Growing up during the eighties, a familiar sound and sight was a group of teenagers gathered in a garage, strumming guitars, beating the drums, and even writing their own music and lyrics. During a recent show on Bayfm with host Terry Boland, it brought listeners back to that era. Four members of a band known as, “The Raymond Heights” and their equipment treated the audience to a number of original songs and some traditional favourites. On vocals and accordion player Riley Jenkins, says they decided on the band’s name…..in a garage owned by the grandparents of the band’s guitarist, who lived on raymond Heights.
The Bayfm studio was full with Jenkins as well Jack Kendrick on drums, Hunter Gillis on bass, and Andrew Gillard, lead guitar. Jenkins says they’ve been a band for about 2 and a half years now, and really wanted to bring traditional music back for young people.
