Six NL teachers win awards for innovation and compassion

    Education Minister Krista Lynn Howell says empathy, compassion and understanding are key skills to connecting with students.

    Six teachers from throughout the province were recognized yesterday as recipients of the 2024 Premier's Award for Innovation in teaching and the Minister’s award for compassion in teaching. Numerous nominations were accepted this year and officials say it was not an easy task to narrow the list down. Premier Andrew Furey says teaching is definitely a true calling. Education Minister Krista Lynn Howell says empathy, compassion and understanding are key skills to connecting with students. Teachers were nominated by students, peers, and parents.
