Montague moved to Norris Point during the 1970’s and evolved into a fixture of the NL music scene.
Shirley Montague is a singer-songwriter who lives in Norris Point. She performed for the first time at the town hall in Northwest River nearly 55 years ago. Montague grew up with music and comes from a family of musicians. She says music is not what you do but it’s who you are. Montague moved to Norris Point during the 1970’s and evolved into a fixture of the NL music scene. She released a cd in 2001 with 6 pieces about Gros Morne National Park. Montague has been a big part of the annual Trails, Tales and Tunes festival in Woody Point, which is celebrating its 19th year this May. Montague was a guest on Bayfm’s Scoffs and Scuffs.
