The Corner Brook Minor Soccer Association donated the Doug Sweetapple Field for the two day event.
Sixty five girls ages 8-13 took part in the first ever “She Can Soccer Camp” in Corner Brook last week. The girls came from Deer Lake, Pasadena, Stephenville and Corner Brook. The goal was to get more girls involved in the sport. A couple of the organizers, Brooke Evoy and Georgia Wiseman, dropped into Bay Fm to talk with Lenny Benoit about it. Evoy says the camp was free thanks to sponsors including Northridge Development, Taylor Smiles, Crown and Moose, Corner Brook Women’s Centre, Phonetech, Penny and Brown Law, Megatrends and Bayfm. Wiseman says it was a lot of fun. She says it was pouring down rain and she thought no one would show up but everyone did and they had fun with water guns.
