However, Susan Walsh says since the covering period of last year’s Status Report on Recommendations, her office completed two new reports.
Saying “it is true what gets measured gets managed,” NL’s Seniors Advocate tabled a report on government recently which shows a 12 percent reduction in recommendations completed but a 25 percent increase in those not implemented since last year’s report. However, Susan Walsh says since the covering period of last year’s Status Report on Recommendations, her office completed two new reports: “An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure (April 2025)” and “From Review to Action: A Continuum of Care Approach (May 2025).” Walsh says the most important recommendation ever made is the creation of Continuum of Care legislation. She says this will set standards that all programs and services to seniors must meet, while ensuring there will be penalties for non -compliance. The Seniors Advocate made 54 formal recommendations stemming from four separate reports over the last seven years.
