Byrne says while these challenges are on pause with a 30 day reprieve, the threat remains and is real. He says plans will be developed as a result of this gathering but they will also be working with federal government.
Byrne says the focus is also on exploring existing Canadian markets that may exist. He says the roundtable has a message form the industry that must be heard.
25 representatives from the seafood sector attended Wednesday’s roundtable. The group also penned the federal fisheries minister skiing the snow crab fishery be started March 15th instead of April 1st.
