It’s an exciting time as thousands of kids head back to school this week and there’s bound to be plenty of activity on streets with schools. The RNC will be increasing their presence in school zones again this year to ensure the safety of all students. Cst James Cadigan says motorists need to slow down, stay away from using personal devices and stay vigilant on your commute. Cadigan says it is illegal to pass a school bus that is stopped with its stop sign extended and lights flashing. This includes all lanes in both directions. The penalties for passing a school bus are six demerit points and up to $1200 in fines.
