RCMP have confirmed two people died in Saturday’s plane crash near the Deer Lake Airport. Two men, a lone passenger aged 27 and the 54 year old pilot were on board the flight. Both men were pronounced deceased at the scene. Officers continue to assist with security at the crash site, to preserve any evidence and to ensure the safety of the public. RCMP NL is also supporting investigators from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) in the ongoing investigation into this crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The twin engine plane went down three minutes after leaving the airport at 5:30 Saturday evening, prompting the complete closure of the Trans Canada Highway for about five hours.
