Police have charged a St. John’s man after a body cavity search of a prisoner at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary.
37 year-old Phillip Pynn is now facing drug trafficking charges. RNC say on January 6th they were called to the penitentiary after multiple packages of unknown substances had been seized as a result of the search. On March 3rd police identified the substances as three packages of a mixture of fentanyl and bromazolam (bra-ma-zoe-lam, better known as Xanax.) A fourth package contained cocaine.
RNC say a total of 72 grams of fentanyl/xanax mixture and 20 grams of cocaine were seized with a street value of approximately $30,000.
