Furey says "The passing of the voice of Hockey Night in Canada is a loss not just for a nation of dedicated hockey fans, but it is especially poignant for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians."
Condolences are still being sent to family and friends of the legendary hockey broadcaster Bob Cole. He passed away late last week at the age of 90. Cole was the voice of Hockey Night in Canada for many decades. In the House of Assembly yesterday, Premier Andrew Furey read a statement on behalf of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. He says,“The passing of the voice of Hockey Night in Canada is a loss not just for a nation of dedicated hockey fans, but it is especially poignant for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. He was an incredible man with an incredible voice. Hearing him call games played by our hockey heroes allowed us to dream.” Furey says while Bob Cole’s impact on the world of hockey was immense, he was something extra special for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
