Porter Airlines is marking its 19th birthday, celebrating nearly two decades of growth, innovation with a mission to elevate economy travel across North America. Over the past year, Porter has hired 400 more people, expanded its fleet to include 48 Embraer E195-E2 jets, with up to 100 jets on order, and added 20 new routes with seven new destinations. Porter’s VP of Network Planning, Andrew Pearce, says both fleets of Dash 8’s and Embraer jets fly out of the Deer Lake Regional Airport now. He says they are the first North American airline to offer an elevated economy service inclusive of no middle seats, free beer and wine served in glassware, and complimentary premium snacks on every flight.
Pearce says they offer many choices to service people in Western NL and within the next year or two they plan to offer more that include other hubs. This winter season, Porter is launching flights to Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, with 13 routes from four Canadian airports.
