Conway-Ottenheimer says there has been too much money wasted.

Deputy Opposition House Leader Helen Conway-Ottenheimer brought concerns to the House of Assembly yesterday about Budget 2024. She says the province is back on equalization and we are a “have not” province once again. Conway-Ottenheimmer says these facts have to be acknowledged when talking about the realities of our fiscal situation in this province, with travel nurse spending at $100 million now and it has to be  questioned if this is getting good value for taxpayers’ money. Conway-Ottenheimer says there has been too much money wasted. She says there are negative reports about the budget and people in NL have the highest debt burden in Canada. She says the Canadian Taxpayers  Federation has also expressed concerns that government is running a deficit again this year instead of balancing the books.
